First Lady Mari Culver Encourages Iowans To Donate To Food Bank Of Iowa
Will speak at the Yankee Doodle Pops tomorrow night
(DES MOINES) – During this year’s Independence Day celebrations, First Lady Mari Culver is encouraging Iowans to remember less fortunate Iowans and donate to the Food Bank of Iowa.
As part of her efforts, she will speak at the 15th annual Yankee Doodle Pops program tomorrow evening and is asking those who plan to attend to bring a non-perishable food item. The “Super Six” most needed items by the Food Bank are: cold cereal, canned meats, peanut butter, 100% fruit juice, boxed meals and paper products. Anyone who brings at least two non-perishable food items to donate will receive a buy-one, get-one free coupon to use at any Symphony classical concert during the 2009-2010 season. Items can be dropped off on-site on Finkbine Street or on E. Walnut in the Public Safety Lot (Lot 21).
If you are not able to attend the event, you can drop off your non-perishable food items at any Dahl's or Bank of the West locations June 22 - July 4. However, Symphony coupons will only be given at the Yankee Doodle Pops event.
