Governor Culver Statement On The 1-year Anniversary Of Virginia Tech Shootings
( Des Moines ) Below is a statement from Governor Chet Culver on the one-year anniversary of the shootings on the Virginia Tech campus, his alma mater. Governor Culver graduated in 1988 from Virginia Tech with a degree in political science.
STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR CHET CULVER :
“One year ago today the nation mourned the horrific events which took place on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg , Virginia . My prayers once again go out to the students, faculty and staff whose lives were forever changed on that tragic day.
“Today, we remember and honor those who were lost, and continue to pray for those who are still healing. Despite the unimaginable loss suffered one year ago, I am deeply touched by the resilience and strength of the Virginia Tech community. As a former Hokie, I am incredibly proud that Hokie Nation refused to let the senseless actions of one diminish the pride and spirit of all.”
