Governor Culver Praises House For Passing Health Care Reform

(DES MOINES) –Today, Governor Chet Culver praised the Iowa House for unanimously passing HF 2539, health care reform legislation, 95-0.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR CHET CULVER:

“I commend the Iowa House for putting partisan differences aside and unanimously passing legislation to lower health care costs and increase access to quality health care. With health care costs skyrocketing, in January I urged Republicans and Democrats to work together to pass this important health care reform bill and to make covering every Iowa child a priority by 2010. This legislation is not only good for Iowa families, but is also a smart investment for the state. By focusing on wellness and chronic disease prevention, we can reduce state employee health costs and save taxpayer dollars. I am very pleased the House took this important step toward making health care affordable and accessible to all Iowans.”
