Governor Culver Signs First Bill Of 2008
Bill extends deadline for counties to file report on mental health expenditures
(Des Moines) – Today, Governor Chet Culver signed Senate File 2054. It is the first bill signed into law in the 2008 legislative session. SF 2054 extends the deadline for counties to file a final report on mental health expenditures. The current deadline is December 1. These reports are used to make determinations how state funds are disbursed to counties. SF 2054 extends the deadline for this year to March 15, 2008. It appears one county (Clayton) did not file on time and this bill would allow them to file so that they may receive state assistance.
Governor Culver said, “I’m pleased to sign this important piece of legislation. Lawmakers found a common sense solution to ensure that all of Iowa’s 99 counties receive mental health funds to provide assistance to those who need it.”
SF 2054 takes effect upon enactment and applies retroactively to December 1, 2007.
