Governor Culver Makes Judicial Appointment
Governor appoints Richard D. Stochl as District Court Judge For Judicial District 1B
(Des Moines) On Wednesday, Governor Chet Culver appointed Richard D. Stochl as a District Court Judge for the Judicial District 1B of Iowa. Stochl is currently a private practice attorney in New Hampton. District 1B is made up of the following counties: Howard, Chickasaw, Fayette, Buchanan, Black Hawk, and Grundy. The vacancy was created when Iowa District Court Judge James C. Bauch retired after 22 years of service.
"I am delighted to appoint Richard Stochl as a District Court Judge for Judicial District 1B," said Governor Culver. "He has served as a the people of northeast Iowa with distinction, and I am certain he will make valuable contributions to our judicial system in the years ahead."
Richard D. Stochl: A private practice attorney in New Hampton, he received his undergrad degree at Western Illinois University, Summa Cum Laude in 1986 and his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1989. While in law school he was a law clerk at an Iowa City firm, Honohan, Epley, Haymond, & Braddock from 1987-1989 and from 1988-1989 he was prosecuting intern at the Muscatine County Attorney's office. After law school, from 1989-1991 he was an associate and in 1991 he became partner at the firm where he currently practices: Elwood, O'Donohoe, O'Connor, & Stochl in New Hampton, Charles City, and Cresco.
