Thanksgiving Message From Governor Culver And Lt. Governor Judge
“Thanksgiving Day is a time to gather with friends and family to reflect upon the past year and give thanks for our many blessings—in our homes, in our communities and across the state.
“As Iowans, we have many things to be thankful for.
“We are thankful for our brave men and women in uniform involved in conflict overseas, and we join with their families and all Iowans in praying for their safe and speedy return.
“We are thankful for the bountiful crops from our farm fields and their ability to not only feed the world, but help fuel the world through ethanol and bio-diesel. When combined with our development of wind energy, Iowa is poised to become the renewable energy capital of the country.
“We are thankful for Iowa’s strong economy and the thousands of new jobs we have created this year, helping to grow our economy and give Iowans all across our state a reason to celebrate this holiday season.
“We are thankful for our children and their teachers, and are proud to have taken strides in recent months to make Iowa’s education system – from preschool to graduate school – one of the best in the nation.
“And finally, we are thankful to live in a state blessed with abundant resources, outstanding communities, world-class neighbors and a quality of life that can’t be found anywhere else.
“From our families to yours, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving and a safe holiday season.”
