Governor Culver Appoints Darrell Hanson To Iowa Utilities Board

DES MOINES – Today, Governor Chet Culver announced Darrell Hanson will become the newest member of the Iowa Utilities Board. A former state representative from Manchester, Hanson will bring more than 30 years of education and economic development experience to the board.

“I am proud to appoint Darrell Hanson to the Iowa Utilities Board,” said Governor Culver. “As a former state legislator and educator, I have the utmost confidence Mr. Hanson will provide capable and diligent service to the Iowa Utilities Board and to all Iowans.”

A native of northeast Iowa, Hanson, 53, represented Delaware County in the state legislature for eight terms. For the last 13 years, Hanson has served as County Extension Education Director for the Iowa State University Extension office in Delaware County, conducting educational programs and workshops throughout eastern Iowa.

“Serving on the Iowa Utilities Board is an honor,” said Hanson. “I look forward to using my experiences in education, environmental protection, and public service to provide fair oversight of Iowa’s utilities and support the mission of this important state agency.”

Hanson will fill a seat vacated by the retirement of Curt Stamp in September. His term lasts through April 30, 2013.
