Lt. Governor Judge Praises Clean-up Efforts After Eastern Iowa Tornadoes
Lt. Governor Urges Iowans Wanting to Help to Participate in Tomorrow’s “Storm of Support” Relief Drive
(Fruitland) Today, Lt. Governor Patty Judge,
along with Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Administrator David Miller, toured the eastern Iowa towns of
Grandview and Fruitland in the wake of last week’s tornadoes. The tornadoes have destroyed or seriously damaged hundreds
of homes and left many Iowa families homeless.
“It is tough to put into words the devastation faced by families here in Eastern Iowa,” said Lt. Governor Judge. “I am extremely proud of the clean-up efforts by the people of these communities and the swift response to the tornados by the local emergency management teams. Like they always do in a time of crisis, Iowans have shown their strength and commitment to this state by coming together to help their neighbors.”
Lt. Governor Judge also praised the local media for playing an important role in getting information out to Iowans looking to help victims of the tornadoes. She urges Iowans to make a donation to the local Red Cross during the “Storm of Support – Relief Drive for Local Tornado Victims.” The relief drive will take place outside of the KWQC-TV6 Studio at 805 Brady Street in downtown Davenport tomorrow, June 5th, from 5:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Iowans can call 309-797-3640 to make a donation during the telethon. All proceeds will go to Quad City area storm victims, especially those in Muscatine, Grandview and Fruitland.
