Statement From Governor Culver On Passage Of The Civil Rights Bill

(Des Moines) Below is a statement from Governor Chet Culver commending the Iowa House for passing the Civil Rights bill 59-37. The bill now moves to the Senate for final passage.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR CHET CULVER:

“I commend the House for passing this historic civil rights legislation. During my inaugural address, I spoke about creating ‘one Iowa, one unlimited future.’ To bring Iowans together, we must create an Iowa in which we do not discriminate against anyone, anywhere, at anytime. I am extremely proud of the hard work done in the legislature on this bill and I look forward to the opportunity to sign it into law.”
