Statement From Governor Culver On Gene Meyer's Confirmation
(Des Moines) Below is a statement from Governor Chet Culver on Public Safety Commissioner Gene Meyer getting confirmed by the Iowa Senate 38-12:
STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR CHET CULVER:
“I am pleased to see that Gene Meyer received bipartisan support to be confirmed as Iowa’s Public Safety Commissioner. Simply put, Gene Meyer is the right person for this critically important job. He has 40 years of experience in both public safety and as Mayor of West Des Moines. We have received an outpouring of support for Gene over the last week and I am pleased Republicans have taken the time to get to know him and look at his qualifications for the job.
“I am thrilled to have Gene as a key member of my Administration. Keeping Iowans safe is one of my most important responsibilities as Governor, and I am honored to have Gene Meyer by my side as Commissioner of Public Safety.”
