Governor Commends Legislature on Moving Forward on Power Fund
Governor: “It’s our time to lead our own 21st Century Iowa Expedition”
(Des Moines) Today, Governor Chet Culver and Lt. Governor Patty Judge commended the Iowa Legislature for working to move the Iowa Power Fund through committee and clear funnel week.
“I am very pleased the legislature is working hard to get the Power Fund through funnel week,” said Governor Culver. “This bipartisan initiative is critical to the future of our state. Passage of the Power Fund will mean more jobs throughout the state and could lead to Iowa becoming the first state in the nation to wean itself off foreign oil.
“In the past, Iowans have led the way and helped feed the world. Now, as I said in my Inaugural Address, it’s our time to lead our own 21st Century Iowa Expedition and help fuel the world. We can do this by passing the Power Fund, which will allow us to increase our production of biofuels and other forms of renewable energy.”
