Governor Culver Makes First Judicial Appointment
Governor appoints Fae Hoover-Grinde as District Court Judge for the 6th Judicial District
(Des Moines) Today, Governor Chet Culver appointed Fae Hoover-Grinde as a District Court Judge for the 6th Judicial District of Iowa. Fae Hoover-Grinde has served as a 6th District Associate Judge since 2003. The 6th Judicial District covers Johnson, Jones, Iowa, Benton, Linn, and Tama counties. The vacancy was created when District Court Judge David Baker was appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals.
“I am delighted to appoint a judge of Fae Hoover-Grinde’s caliber as my first judicial appointment,” said Governor Culver. “She has served as a practicing lawyer and as an associate district court judge with distinction. I am certain that she will make valuable contributions to our judicial system in the years ahead.”
“I am thrilled at the opportunity to serve on the District Court,” said Fae Hoover-Grinde. “I am also honored to be the first judicial appointment by Governor Culver. I will take with me the good work habits and dedication from my current position as a District Associate Judge and apply that to the new challenges related to the District Court.”
FAE HOOVER-GRINDE: Judge Hoover-Grinde, Cedar Rapids, was appointed to the bench in 2003. Born in St. Ansgar, Iowa, and raised in Marion, Iowa. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell College in 1987 and her law degree from the University of Iowa in 1990. Judge Hoover-Grinde has served as a public defender in Cedar Rapids and a Legal Service Corp. staff attorney. She is a member of the Linn County Bar Association and the National Association of Women Judges.
