Governor Culver Attends Opening of US Bioenergy Plant in Albert City

NASDAQ Does Remote Closing Live from Albert City

(Des Moines) Today, Governor Chet Culver attended the Grand Opening of the US BioEnergy plant in Albert City, Iowa. During the event, the Governor also participated in the remote Closing Bell Ceremony of the NASDAQ exchange celebrating US BioEnergy’s recent public offering.

“US BioEnergy is helping us do what I believe we must do as a state, and that is take control of our energy future,” said Governor Culver. “I have called Iowans to explore the next generation energy frontier, and plants like this one are on that cutting edge. It's time for Iowa to win the race to become the energy capital of the world and break free from our dependence on foreign oil.

“Led by companies like this one, Iowa will become the Silicon Valley of the Midwest. It is so refreshing to see the NASDAQ bell in Iowa and recognize the high-tech future that our state is building around the next eneration renewable energy economy.”

US BioEnergy Corporation is a producer and marketer of ethanol and distillers grains. The company is the largest pure-play ethanol producer in the United States. The Albert City facility began production in December of 2006 and employs more than 45 people. It is expected to produce 100 million gallons of ethanol and 320,000 tons of dried distillers grain per year.
