Public Invited to Comment at Commercial Property Tax Task Force Meeting

Guidelines for Public Comments Listed Below

(Des Moines) Governor-elect Culver’s Commercial Property Tax Commission held its first public meeting on December 21st, 2006. The meeting provided a general overview of Iowa state property tax policy. In addition, presentations by experts gave the task force members background on the mechanics of Iowa’s property tax system.

The Commercial Property Task Force will hold a second meeting on January 4, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at the Polk County Convention Complex. Any interested party is invited to attend the meeting and comment to the Task Force. The guidelines for comments are listed below:

Public Comment Guidelines for Commercial Property Tax Task Force:

  • Any interested party may request to make comment to the Commercial Property Tax Task Force.
  • Comment is scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. – noon and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Each individual offering comments will be allotted a total of eight (8) minutes for comments and Task Force questions.
  • Requests must be received by the Commercial Property Tax Task Force point of contact by noon on Wednesday, January 3, 2007.
  • Comment times will be scheduled in the order in which they are received.
  • Requests must be submitted in writing, electronically, or by telephone at the following contact points:
