The Culver/Judge Administration is committed to supporting those who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. They believe those who served to protect the American dream can live the American dream – here in Iowa. Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge fought for and secured additional benefits for veterans and service members to make it easier for them to purchase their first home, and expanded the Injured Veterans’ Assistance Grants to provide for cash payments to helpwounded veterans during their recovery. Governor Culver signed into law a historic expansion of the Veterans’ Trust Fund, Governor Chet Culver takes a moment to pose with a WWII veteran taking part in the Honor Flight which flew 350 WWII veterans to Washington D.C. for the day to visit the WWII memorial.as well as worker protection for activated service members, so that their jobs aren’t at risk during deployments.  Finally, Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge invested millions to make the Iowa Veterans’ Home one of the best in country – because our Iowa heroes have earned it. 

  • Governor Culver signed legislation extending the Veterans Homeowners Assistance Program, which to date has helped more than 1,100 veterans live the American dream they fought to protect.
  • Governor Culver ushered in a historic expansion of the Veterans’ Trust Fund, which will help keep ensure that the needs of our veterans are met.
  • The Culver/Judge Administration will invest $22 million in the Iowa Veterans’ Home, ensuring this Iowa institution remains a working monument to the service of our veterans.
  • Governor Culver opened the Iowa Veterans’ Cemetery in Van Meter, which will be a lasting memorial to the sacrifices of those in uniform.
